The Cursed One

Or HOW he became one >>>>the story began in 2010 >>>

This painting has lived through some of his life events (which later led to the title „The Cursed
One“).
The painting started his life in 2010, as it was a part of the 8 piece installation for the "Zugzwang" (2010) show. Everything went great. Later the exhibition traveled from Vilnius to Tallinn. And again >>> everything was perfect. 
Then we held another exhibition >>> this is the interesting part >>>
- The painting was hanging at the exhibition „Moonchild“ (2011) as a part of a 10 piece composition with other
paintings. And then, maybe at night, someone tagged on this painting JAH.
Why here? -
maybe because of the composition, I thought, which was „out of the center“ - maybe someone just
wanted to fill in the gap.
The second event was also completely unexpected – the painting was put together with others near the
wall, after the exhibition. Suddenly there was an explosion of some old radiator!!!!! WHAT??? WHY :DD:DDD >>> And of course „The Cursed One“ stood quite near and was all covered in some rusty slimy old water...
This was the moment when he justified his title. When I came to the place to check for the paintings - I met the firefighters, they said "ooo it,s just some rust, the radiators here are verrrry old and need to be removed".
After that I made some hard thinking about the unfortunate painting, about the destiny, etc. - what to do next with it - to get rid of or not. I tried to renew the previous view, painted white over the marker signs, cleaned the rust. But then decided to change the view radically. Because it was not strong enough to stand by itself.  This led to the circle composition of the sailing boats.
I have been possesed by various boats, canoes, kayaks for quite a long time now. Their symbol
helps to convey the paint as the streaming moment. And so, due to The Curs the boats will be
sailing round and round for all eternity. I focus on the act of painting, showing the paint as the main
element of the whole creation and process. The liquid space creates the haunting mood where
stickers like variuos boats sail with a pretension of something fun and beautiful. The Curse is
meant to last forever, but you never know.
